i have windows xp se7en lite 2009 build 2 and auto update don't work and when it try it manually gives me this page http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us error [Error number: 0x80240036] i updated java but nothing happen and i searched around a lot but i didn't get answers but update java and it don't work with me and automatic updates turned on and nothing happen , thank you

The only way to solve this problem was to update java runtime... :) If updating Java doesn't work you may want to check your windows update service. If it is completely disabled on your machine you will get error 0x80240036 at windows update. How to fix: Start -> Run... type: services.msc press enter right click on: automatic updates choose: properties click the Log on tab make sure Local system account is checked make sure profile 1 is Activated click General tab make sure start type is Automatic make sure Service status is started. If it is not click start. windows update should now work :-)Hello!
